Voyages of the Damned

As African refugees plea with the government of Israel to grant them asylum, Jews would do well to remember the fate of the SS St. Louis that managed to escape from the clutches of Nazis, but was refused entry at every North American port and was finally forced to return to Europe on the very eve of WWII. Orson Welles stars in this collage clip of the 1976 Hollywood feature film 'Voyage of the Damned' (accompanied by the haunting violins of The Dirty Three and Nick Cave), which tells the sad story of the boatload of German Jews that died because no other country would grant them asylum. How many Africans have to perish before we start to take responsibility for the suffering souls on our doorstep?

So Israel is taking them in and containing them in camps. Isn't that all the Jews wanted?

On aside, these Sudanese are wrecking and vandalizing large parts of Tel Aviv on the Israeli tax payer dime. Think the Jews would have created slum ctiies for themselves in the US?

If only they could make it to the Pacific Islands..Western Samoa is where I am from, we would take them in, feed them and treat them as our own, we live off the land and the sea, we don't have much but we believe in God and his love for all humankind:):) this sadden my heart, if you don't believe me, go to Samoa visit it for yourself, the most humane people on the face of the earth

Why is Israel the only country responsible for taking in African refugees? Israel is a place the size of New Jersey. There is much more room and many more resources for these refugees in countries such as Jordan and Saudi Arabia. But no one faults them for not taking in African refugees. Why is this?
