Ed "Smitty" Shedosky, (my dad) playing solo trumpet on "Love for Sale" with the Dick Schory Orchestra. This was recorded 1961 at Orchestra Hall Chicago Illinois. Bobby Christian was featured on vibes, etc.
The lone trumpet takes the place of the single lonely human voice amongst the clamor and confusion of the city.
The full moon of May 8th, 2009 with the tail-winds of a fierce storm that had blown through north-west Illinois earlier that evening; the leaves of my giant hackaberry tree causing the shimmering of the light.

  • This is a great song. Your Dad is very talented. I was just curious as I work with a guy who is the son of this Jerry Slosberg who was from that era and from Chicago.

I can't put a link here but if you Google "Jerry Slosberg RIP" you should see the page for organissimo "dot org".

    Thanks for the reply!

  • @msfosella You're very welcome! I looked at the album cover for a photo that might show the drummer, but it's too small to make out faces. Wish my pops was still around to help sort out the memories. Lots of names sound familiar to me as really liked to weasel my way to his jobs if I could. I attended the concert that Dick Schory's Orchestra put on in the old McCormick place that featured Runnin' Wild so I can recall the solos, etc.

    Best Wishes~

  • @msfosella

    P.S. Thanks for the link!

  • Was Jerome Slosberg playing drums on this?

    Thank you.

  • @msfosella Hi~ sorry but I don't think there's any list of who's on this except for 2 guest trumpeters on "But not for me" & "Bully". If I come across any info I'll be sure to alert you!

  • Well thank you for checking that. That was a while back. I can really here how the trumpet portrays someone amidst the hustle and bustle of the big city.

    Regards~
