Namibia Genocide 6/6

Thirty years before Hitler came to power in Germany, and about forty years before Raphael Lemkin authored the word genocide, there had already been one at the hands of Germany. This genocide happened outside of Europe though. This genocide took place in AFRIKA!

Like with all things related to Afrika, this is never mentioned in our schools, which keeps us ignorant about our own histories.

In the early 1900s, Germany invaded Namibia. This documentary from the BBC outlines the events that lead up to the deaths of 3/4 of the population of Herero people, and 1/2 of the population of Nama people.

Very interesting and I understand and agree with these African people. On another note, it sounds biased by the British narration. After WWI I don't believe ALL the German farmers were able to keep the lands, but white South Africans who took over, but this documentary makes it like Germans kept all the land. I know that I shouldn't think this way because its not like the sins of the parents should be levelled against the children but.....whenever I see anything german related (like adidas, puma, benz, bmw...etc) I get the creeps. Very true. I'm mostly white, and am sickened by these ideas and more so, that they actually transpired. What inspires me are those like Padmore who stood up to the unfair treatment and the loss of unity in Africa in non-violent manners. It's a sad but common truth stated by many black revolutionists, the white man's war is of violence. Greed has created a messed up world, that's for sure.
