@MyGr2010 depinds on if the exterior door is using the right locks. EMS, and firefighters use these a lot and they are made for internal doors that do not commonly use solid locks. If you use a lock that is not sprink loaded like those heap dead bolts and handel locks then no, this will not work. You are also wrong in that it is called a "shove it knife", its simply a brand name, same as "slim jim"...they are names given my the maker...slim jim is just how they are commonly known

your using a tools thats not designed for this and their is a reason for that sonny and thats because it wouldnt work on a real external door with a door frame jab on the sides.....take my advice
