You're right,in fact just recently there was an in-depth article on the fight and one senior HBO official stated that Hagler and his team never made any serious push for a rematch with Leonard.He kind of hung around but he never seriously campaigned like some seem to think that he did.

@torr5962 Like I told the last guy, PROVE IT! I can easily prove that Hagler avoided the question (multiple times) when asked did he want a rematch with Leonard. But nowhere will you ever see Hagler demanding a rematch.

@kingq01 You are an idiot. Hagler begged for a year for the rematch because it was still the biggest fight out there. People forget that Leonard was the Oscar of his time-everyone wanted to fight him. An absolute shame that this fight wasnt given the decision it should have had- A Draw.

@InternationalBoy Wrong. Dead Wrong. Hagler tried for a year for a rematch because it would have been a zillion dollars. Leonard knew it was a one time thing for him. Read the 1990 Ring Magazine article on Hagler-he only decided for sure at the December of 87.
