I had a clear skin smile but I was farrrr from tall and thin. I had curves and that was just not appreciated back in those days. Now I'd be a beauty queen (at that age) but back then I was considered fat. lol

It's interesting she uses the infamous idiom 'ugly duckling' when compared to the beauty queens. I think the duck metaphor was cool. If you think about it, what are ducklings? They're cute baby ducks. When watching a river one might see a mother duck and 6 or 7 pretty little ducklings go waddling by; cutest thing you'll ever see. Even the word duckling has a ring that sings. And I've never even seen an ugly duck. Have you? But if I did, I'd love it just the same. Bobble

life indeed was cruel during that time, when looks matter most and those who possessed it were arrogant and snob those who's not as good looking at them. I never felt this way, for I always look for what inside and true character of a person..looks dont count to me.
