The Human Mind Electrified
Dr. John McDonald
Psychologists have traditionally been interested in the links between the human brain and the myriad of mental functions that guide our lives.
Although the decade of the brain is over, we are now only beginning to understand how our neural machinery produces what we see, hear, feel, and think. Exciting new discoveries are possible now that scientists have tools for glimpsing inside the skull to see brain anatomy and to measure brain function.
Dr. John McDonald studies human perception, attention and other mental functions using sophisticated new techniques to record and analyze the brains electrical activity.
In this talk, he shows how recording brain electricity from the scalp can lead to discoveries about the ways in which the brain operates to control our mental lives.
