Today is my sixth day in the hospital. April 28, 2010 or Day -1 to transplant. Today is the last day i will get chemotherapy. Tomorrow is what the nurses call "my birthday"- I will get my donor bone marrow and hopefully this will graft to my body creating me a new immune system to fight my cancer. Most people actually think a stem cell transplant is more complex than what is really is- it is simply and infusion- like getting a blood transfusion. You'll see more about this tomorrow. Today started out rough with some nausea and pain, but then they knocked me out with Benadryl again. The evening was better, as you can tell, I went for a walk and then came back to my room to paint. I have been eating normal foods this far. No mouth sores or mucositis yet, so I'm enjoying my food while I can. I don't have much of an appetite, but I eat what I can.
