i also dislike any boat modifications below the waterline : any failure of the seals where those lifting arms are attached will flood the boat.
traditional davits are safer for this and for the other reason mentioned below.

looks a bit flimsy with the cog over the edge like that.
im thinking in a good swell it would fail and fall/break off easily with any kind of aft swell. maybe for a lake its okay.
