Once fishing at West End 2, Jones Beach, Long Island, NY, my pole was knocked down and dragged so quickly into the ocean, I gave chance. As I stood in four feet of water, I looked down and saw my pole buzzed through the water like a torpedo. Lost the whole kit and caboddle. Lessoned learned, never stray too far from a spiked fishing rod.
Why not just stick a knife into the fish before you let it go, thats basically what you did, left it lying on the beach for dead, walk back to your truck,carry it around, then release it. Dead fish.
