HDTV: Top 10 Idols perform It's My Life/My Life Would Suck w/o You (Central Park, GMA)

Oh my god, what a mess! Voices seemed to pop up at random, and there was no semblance of harmony. There were some good singers this year but if this is any indication, group performances are not their thing. I think the best group dynamics were seen in Season 7, headed by the interaction between David Cook and David Archuleta.

This performance may be symbolic of the entire Idol franchise, For the first time, shows on the national had to be canceled. Part of it has to do with the poor economy, but the interest simply isn't as great. Not only are ratings down, but winning rarely leads to success. Look at the last winners -- where are they? Ruben Studdard was one of the biggest losers, having been dropped by his record label soon after winning. And poor Kris Allen. One of the nicest winners ever but TMZ had video him heading to perform at some fair or amusement park. And a few weeks ago, he performed at an event sponsored by NYC's WCBS radio. Not exactly a newsmaking venue. In fact, he was hardly mentioned during the event, which focused on sports stars. I feel really sorry for Allen, who is probably too "normal" to make news.

On the other hand, runner up Adam Lambert is a force to be reckoned with. not only are his concerts selling out quickly, but he is constantly in the news. While controversy may bring some performers down, the unapologetic performer just gets stronger. Perhaps the biggest honor so far is being chosen by Oprah viewers as the guest they want to see most.. Christian Southerners are a major voting block in Idol but they have little influence on post-Idol success as evidenced by Lambert.

Next time you might try to reread what you've written because saying someone is crazy and can't make good music is kinda rude.... Now I'm a Kris AND Adam fan and I understand where AskMeForMoreInfo is comming from - Every musician needs to gain new fans because not all fans stay loyal - you need publicity(like it or not).

@carolinablueskies1 Get a dose of reality and learn something about the music business. I like Kris too but I know for a fact that he and his team are sweating right now because he's sold less than virtually any other Idol winner, and less than many runner ups. And your pointless dig at Lambert about "needing" strange costumes just makes you look desperate. Where do you have proof that he's dependent on costumes?
