The Votes at 16 Coalition campaigns for 16 and 17 year olds to be able to vote in all UK public elections. Launched in 2003, the Coalition is made up of over 40 leading youth and democracy organisations from across the UK. The Votes at 16 campaign is supported by thousands of young people and people of all ages, as well as politicians of all parties and institutions like the Welsh Assembly and the Scottish Parliament.
I'm 16 now, and those of us who wanted vote now instead will have to wait 3 years after we are 18 been lead by a prime minister which many of us don't want. Its unfair!

Exactly only people who want to vote, will vote anyways, and those that do vote, know what is at stake when they cast their ballot.

i turned 18 not long ago which made me think about how voting works, i think 16 year olds should be given the vote, you can join the army, but cant vote who leads you to war, you can have kids, but cant chose what sort of country they grow up in? thats wrong imho. people say your all hooligans, i say what hooligan is going to go down to the polling station at night to vote? i think it would be the last thing on the hooligans mind, which would leave only those more intellegant under 18's to vote

I am for voting at 16. Well I am 16... but the people that say we are too young or foolish to vote are wrong. Some 18+ Year olds don't vote or don't have a single sense for politics and its importance. So I say let those who understand it have their say also in electing members of parliament and of the United States of Federal Europe.
