Lamination is far superior to damascus or wootz or forge welded regardless of its name. This is why the katana lives and the wootz swords died. Todays modern high carbon steels laminated by softer stainless steels cant be beat for toughness OR edge retention. Fuck damascus and any mall ninja that claims otherwise.

@boravw1 Only for press cutting. To slice things with a push cut or pull cut, then a knife with teeth is prefered.

I'm sitting down, I have had my beta blockers, you can tell me the price now.

If you meant the same, I'm sorry for the direct response. By the way, the art of making wootz is not yet forgotten, some people still make some.

Hate to burst your bubble but "real" damascus (yes, that's how it's written!) steel is not made of layers of steel. It originates asia (most like in india) and was traded over damascus, which gave it the name "damascus steel". Today we know this type of steel as "wootz steel". It can look like it is made of layers, but it really isn't. Please do some research for further deatils, I'm no english native speaker, so I can't explain the technical aspects too well.

the sharper the knife the better if it cuts you the wound is not a rip it is a clean cut and easyer to care for where a dull blade there is alot more riping and more trauma
a sharp blade is way better to get cut with

hate to burst you bubble but, it isnt real demascas steel, as the way to make it has been long forgoten, what they use is a veriation of it wich mimics its looks

i was gonna buy a set, then i looked at the price and my wallet ran away
a sharper knife is actually safer because it is less likely to slip from the material you are cutting and any potential slip will be more controllable because you are not using as much pressure to cut.

Hey, no offense but you are so misinformed, sounds like you have been talking to a mall ninja.
