Out In The Newborn Night
By Ronald Haselden
December 12, 2010

The hustle and bustle of the city
Seems like a play
The neons and the headlights of the traffic
Light up the stage
And all takes flight
Out in the newborn night

Romeos and Juliets maneuver
As looks ricochet
A glance, a smile, a touch, a gentle whisper
Lead to embrace
Down stage right
Out in the newborn night

The backdrop is an alley as the hero
And Heroine sing
Obligatory villains are a-waiting
On the street corner wings
Just out of sight
Out in the newborn night

Cabs arrive to draw the final curtain
To this passion play
The actors are abandoned to the cabbies'
Soliloquies
And home they ride
Out in the newborn night

  • Hi Ron,

a wonderful song! Thanks and a big compliment!

    Kerstin

  • @Libelle1963 Hi Kerstin, thank you very much. -Ron

  • Really beautiful and fun to listen to, Ron. A very clean production. Great job on the multi-track. I especially liked the melody and energy level of this. Exothermic, like a warm fire on this snowy day. Nice work, my friend, Karl

  • @karlmahlmann Hi Karl, thanks very much for you comment. I hope all is well with and I'm looking forward to your next upload. -Ron

  • Hello Ron I enjoyed your video, it must be wonderful to write music and play all those instruments, I have great respect for singer song writers its not an easy job at times but music brings pleasure to many. All the very best for 2011.

  • down stage right....great line...sweet song ROn,....

  • A very nice song Ron. It's a good idea to clap the beat for the 3voices canto in the end. It's otherwise nearly impossible to stay in the beat. Martin

  • Hey Ron:) At 2:17 some OtherSides begin poking through! Sort of prog-rock Beatles sing a long gone all Davey Jones like. Rude of me to pigeon hole but it's such fun and specific sound and styles ultimately elude my ear so indulge me please. Nice to be back and finally hear this one.

  • Hi Ron, I had not listened to any of your new songs for quite a while. I can hear that there has been a great acomplishment in what you. The way that you present your songs , the whole technicality... it sounds realy very good und you make a much more self assured appearance. I have a lot of respect for what you have done. Good luck to you, Bob

  • sounds a little Neil Young but all your own. I love when you play bass because only a few people play bass like that anymore. great song.

  • Wasn't expecting a mix, so the 12-string in my left ear was a pleasant surprise.

The lyrics hit home despite me not really knowing what they mean. Very Bono-esque in that regard.

Everything works wonderfully, especially the changes on "night" and the "nah nah" bits. I'm left with a taste of McCartney as well as another influence I recognize but can't quite place. The extra keys that you toss in make a huge difference. You are a youtube tour de force, Ron.

  • Ron !!((Wow)) a lot of work here(((But you come up with a awesome video.))) Your song was beautiful. I am still hearing it even after your through singing. Worth Pushing. ((Thanks for sharing))
