I remember when Ron would wear bright red socks during his broadcasts. He showed them to me when I visited the TV 5 booth at the NY State Fair. He was the greatest broadcaster I have ever known. God Bless Ron Curtis.

When I wasn't in school, I would watch the Price Is Right and then watch Ron at noon. He was the best news anchor in Syracuse. Sure miss him. Now, when I'm back home, I watch News Channel 9.

He was a true professional who presented the news with the seriousness it deserved, bu it was great to see his fun side.
RIP, Mr. Curtis. It was an honor to grow up watching you.

No---they didn't. And it's sad.
I remember watching channel 5 news for years---it was the best newscast in Syracuse. I miss Ron, Maureen Green and Carrie Lazurus.

The good old days---when news was the centerpiece of the 6pm-7pm hour. I can remember watching him when I was a kid. I used to love WTVH news. News today is all Internet based...

At 2:30, was that Al Roker in the picture. I know that portion was from the early 70's. I know Al used to work for Newscenter 5. please let me know.

sure do miss you Mr. Curtis! RIP!
After he passed away the "broadcasting powerhouse" as Matt Mulcahy called it was no longer. CBS5 isn't anything like what it used to be. I wonder how disgusted Ron would be after watching a newscast on channel 5 today, or even looking at the last few years.

I grew up with him. He was truly the Walter Cronkite of Syracuse.
