VEN A KITE makes several twists on the concept of kitesurfing competitions. Competitors interact with each other as they divide into teams with a mix of experts and newcomers. Male and female bikini-clad team members learn new kitesurfing tricks and maneuvers and challenge the other teams to match skills. Their fates are determined by a voting process which is facilitated by SMS text messaging (sponsored by Motorola cell phones). The votes are tallied from professional judges, team members, and the viewing audience.
