It's nice to know someone else agrees the first series had more depth. Brotherhood had more episodes but it felt cliched towards the end. I didn't like the homunculi as much because they became typical henchmen whereas the first series, they had deeper ties to the characters. Lust being the gf of Scar's brother, wrath being the child of their mentor, Sloth being their mother, inc. Brotherhood was ok, but it didn't give me the same level of satisfaction. I'll say though it had a better ending.

@KoolCartoons You're right. That is your opinion. My opinion is:
Brotherhood is a good, typical action/adventure anime that pleases the mainstream viewers because of it's colorful characters,humor and fight scenes.It pleased the fans who look for happy endings.
The 2003 Series is a good drama that pleases more mature viewers who look for a unique,thought-provoking plot ,character development and just something different from all the hundreds of pretentious action/drama shonen.
