@williamspk If you are looking to make a case for a song that EC did unlike anyone else, and showed the song's full potential, then the following song would be an outstanding example: watch?v=cah4f8OKmDY
However, you are trying to make a case for a blues song that EC did like many others.
Unlike EC, and Freddie King (a great blues player and composer of the following song), ONLY Peter Green revealed the following song's true potential: watch?v=a9lxHeqPkeE
(EC played it like ALL other blues)

Clapton NEVER came close to playing this song as well as Peter Greene did. Greene was as melodic a G. Harrison at his best.

@yourtreat2 - Ever since I saw both of them playing live with John Mayall in the sixties I tended to rank Greeny above EC, and certainly as far as 'feel' goes I still do. BUT technically you have to say that no one on earth including Pete Green and Freddie King can match EC's virtuoso guitar playing on this particular occasion. I suggest you try 'Otex' ear drops before you listen again son!

You're right, that is what was said - a strange term really for a rock star - it is more reminiscent of terminology used in the building trade - i.e. cement or mortar etc.
