This may be a generalization but Mongolians seem to have a very independant culture, its pretty cool.

If you want to be wealthy and go international you learn Russian in school and pursue college, if you want to live like your ancestors you can be a farmer or nomad.

Its amazing how many choices are available, totally opposite from Singapore.

ohh. im leally lucky this evening. i found UULEN BOR. I fell in love with this melody when i was a student in university. when i was in mongolia i always used to it in my cellphone ringtone. i never fed up with listening to it. sometimes when i got sad i listen to it many times even whole evening.

My observation, while in Mongolia, was that the Mongolian people are very musical ... they play instruments very well and sing wonderfully. The music often reflects their love of and connection to their horses.  I can hear them galloping in the music. Lovely.

I got to play a horsehead fiddle at the Genghis Khan exhibit at the Denver museum a couple days ago. Wow! Strings are made of many horse hairs just like the bow hairs. Amazing!
