  • this is what you get when you get a bunch of like minded individuals (punks and metalers) trying to constantly out do each other and push the limits of their skills and instruments.. it becomes grind, death metal, gore grind, grindcore, crust, power violence, fastcore, japcore, noise, noisecore..... the list goes on and on. they took two things that were dead (punk and metal) and cannibalized the corpse to invent something new. we have a cornucopia to feast on today. let's make something new!

  • @mrghastly Exactly man, that's what I love so much about this band. Throughout their whole progression they've always maintained their style, but were still creating completely new/original sounds. Just makes me worry about these days in metal, it seems with the over saturation of music/bands there is almost nothing new, or original that can be done.

  • @mrghastly dont use punk and metal in the same damned sentence ever again :] rest is ok

  • @melodiccreepingdeath Fuck those rules!

No really though, why can't he say punk and metal? It's the truth. This genre is heavily influenced by metal just as well as punk.

Unless you were joking though, then whatever :D

  • @melodiccreepingdeath jeff walker was in a crust/thrash punk band then the band split and he joined another crust punk band called disattack. that punk band disattack became carcass, the metal band, so fuck you, punk and metal like each other. in the song limb from limb on this demo they use a riff from their punk song the next attack

  • @b0mbcityrocker Jeff Walker was in a band called the Electro Hippies. They didn't split up, I think they just kicked him out. He was never in Disattack, only Bill Steer was. Also the riff from 'The Next Attack' was used in the Carcass track 'Suppuration', not 'Limb from Limb'.

  • Carcass was the shit. Even their more commercial track later on were musically genius.

  • Grindcore IS punk, but metal also. Goregrind is a derivative of grind. The former is pretty much the most extreme punk genre. So what I'm calling this makes sense.

I just can't believe this was released in April 1987. So brutal for that time!!!

  • Carcass kicks ass! This is a great release!

  • Great shit!

  • Really surprised at the production quality considering it was most likely self mixed with shitty equipment.

  • And I thought that the version on Reek of Putrefacation was filthy. The guitar tone is just a maxed out HM-2 into an 8-track and it's absolutely disgusting.

  • @wrathchild368 i know who electro hippies are, theyre actually one of my favorite bands. i know he wasn't in disattack, he joined and they immediately changed the name of the band. im pretty sure anyways

  • Easily the best band in both grindcore and death metal!
