On my first attempt as a child, I won by a hair.
Bastoise vs Venasaur, last pokemon each, no PP left.
To clarify, I beat it using STRUGGLE.
And that, my friends, is why Squirtle is the best starter in Pokemon R/G/B/Y.

man i remember trying to beat gary on my yellow version....he was a total pain....all my pokemon were like level 30-40 and my pikachu was like level 75.... I got through the whole eliet four with my pikachu....... and a couple super potions :)
