This is the first half hour of the FEMA briefing held in Greene County on Friday September 16th. The meeting is one of several in a series of "applicant briefings" for entities seeking assistance as a result of damages they sustained from Hurricane Irene has been scheduled. The meetings will provide details of FEMA's Public Assistance program to potential recipients. The federal government bears 75 percent of the costs of repair and replacement of infrastructure and buildings in the public domain that might have been damaged by Hurricane Irene and the subsequent flooding. Also eligible for assistance are certain nonprofits that provide essential services to the public, like schools, hospitals, relief agencies, senior housing and utilities.
