One way to maximize safety for all drivers on the road is to set some standards for weight and height of vehicles on the road. Why does anybody need a 6000 lbs. truck to go to the supermarket. Some might say we have to right to in America. Yeah, but if your neighbor wanted drive around in an armed tank and keep a dozen tigers as pets on a street full children, should he be allowed to? Set weight and height vehicle standards and you'll still be able to drive what you want. Within reason of course

You are right, it will have more momentum, which is a GOOD thing. Because the vehicle will have more momentum, it will not de-accellerate as fast as a small car. This means YOU don't get bashed around as hard.
I saw statistics which show twice the number of deaths of people driving smaller cars than large american cars or trucks/suv's.
You are right that it's basic physics, too bad you aren't applying it correctly.

But many new small vehicles are getting high crash test scores and big vehicles are not good as they make it worse for smaller vehicles when they collide with them. Imagine a Smart colliding with a Cadillac Escalade. What will be to the poor Smart? Big vehicles make the roads more dangerous for small ones. And more momentum means that the vehicle will take longer to stop. I agree that having a longer crumple zone helps, but big vehicles are not necessarily safer.

Yes, they do make it more dangerous for small cars, that is why I would never buy a Smart Car or a Honda Civic. Regardless of the crash tests, they are unsafe in the REAL world where big trucks and big cars drive.
You are right that it will take the vehicle longer to stop, I really don't care so long as I am alive. I don't care about the extra gas either, my family is worth it.

You know what? Whatever. There really is no point in arguing with you.
