Trailer for the 1995 sci-fi movie Screamers. Something of a cult classic which could be better known and perhaps better appreciated beyond it's budget sci-fi roots. A strong cast (especially Weller) hold together a somber sci-fi fest based on the Philip K. Dick short story "Second Variety". This film now has a sequel "SCREAMERS The Hunting" which is less strong but worth a watch.

(SIRIUS 6B, Year 2078) On a distant mining planet ravaged by a decade of war, scientists have created the perfect weapon: a blade-wielding, self-replicating race of killing devices known as Screamers designed for one purpose only -- to hunt down and destroy all enemy life forms But man's greatest weapon has continued to evolve without any human guidance, and now it has devised a new mission: to obliterate all life. Col. Hendricksson (Peter Weller) is commander of a handful of Alliance soldiers still alive on Sirius 6B. Betrayed by his own political leaders and disgusted by the atrocities of this never-ending war, Hendricksson decides he must negotiate a separate peace with the New Economic Bloc's decimated forces. But to do so, he will have to cross a treacherous wasteland where the deadliest threat comes from the very weapons he helped to create.

A true underrated classic!

I loved this sci fi action horror that blends elements of The Terminator with The Thing to good effect. The always reliable Peter Weller leads a cast of familiar b-movie in one of the 90's many unsung sci fi gems(Cube, 13th Floor, Mimic, Dark City, Hardware, The Arrival etc). I thought Screamers:The Hunting was an OK movie but not quite the original.

I haven't seen the second movie but I can only guess it's inferior to the first.

When I search for this movie on Youtube I can see many of the videos don't have relevance to the movie.

yea i always woundered how ppl would never mention this as a good scifi. its a pretty good watch! dont like the second movie tho
