I inquired of someone working on the site what had happened to the stained glass windows from the chapel and was told that Dayton Public Schools has possession of them.

As of 01/18/2012, contractors are currently removing asbestos from the school building proper. The convent and chapel sections have already been cleaned up and demolition is set to begin on those portions in the next few days. I believe the person I spoke with estimated demolition could be completed in the next 5-6 weeks.

thanks for the memories. I attended Julienne in 1959 and it was a great school and then being an all girl school felt the strength of all of us as a group the best days of my life. Geneva Heid Freeman

Went to HS there from 1975-1977 when it was Dayton Christian HS. Beautiful building. Lots of memories.

did they end up tearing this down or saving it? what happened in the end?

Actually, the building has 2 companies offering to renovate it. St. Mary's sent a letter of commitment to city hall and recently Edwin C. Moses's brother called to offer to rehab the site for senior housing. It would not remain vacant. The issue is that DPS has the funds to renovate from the construction levy. They also have land that they already own in the area to biold. They simply would prefer to threaten the community and walk away .
