should all this not be corrected in thei nterests of reviving the irish linngo?

i mean, most of us cannot even pronounce words in english let alone irish!!

i mean, golliv is easier than galway to pronounce and spell phonetically iin english.

or duvlin or blaw clee for dublin!

When English came to Ireland they started to use their own pronounciation for place names and surnames. Shliggock as it is pronounced is spelt Sligeach in Irish (which means shelly river) which was turned to Sligo. Binn Ghulbain means Gulbans peak in Irish but for ease of pronounciation in the English language it was later spelt Benbulben.

WHY is it called ben bulben in english and ben GULBEN in irish lingo?

and why is sligo not called SHLIGGOCK, its proper name in irish?

bet NOBODY can tell my why.
