not bad at all, but ithink u ought to have another listen to the original, just to catch some of the proper melody, otherwise it might start to morph into some kind of solo jazz/bklues style, which really wouldnt do the song or the emotive subject matter any favor. No offence intended whatsoever, your ability is not in question.

Thank you for your thoughts - if you could suggest a simple, authentic version I could listen to, that would be great. I had never heard this song before a singing student sang it to me years ago.

Thank you to all posters for your comments, even the mean ones I deleted, ha ha! I shall confess I did that, but shan't anymore..as we can only learn. I think I need to live in Ireland for a little while some day...that would help my soul absorb some of that wonderful musicality.

Thank you! Your singing seems really good from your video - all I can say is focus your whole being on nothing but the story of the song when you sing, and you will knock their socks off. I think I changed the melody a bit, so go for a real Irish person's version, as I learned the song from one of my singing students, and it morphed over time! xV

I agree that Lothlorien from Greenwoodside has a wonderfull version. But they admit to taking there arrangement from Lorenna Mckennitt who preforms magic with the song and is on youtube.

hey, like i said no offence intended, its a beautiful rendition. In fact one of the better ones ive heard. Maybe im being too much of a purist here, i just meant it as constructive criticism. That said there is a version that i prefer over the rest, --Lothlorien - Greenwoodside -- however i just cant seem to find the version on youtube, tho i did download it using soulseek. Btw ur right to delete mean comments.
