Tim Neilson, being a Vulcan, is probably better suited to running the show than being the anchor anyway.

I think it was Grant Scott on "That's Life"

I remember getting up, as a young lad, to watch the ITN Morning News, at 5:00am, then at 5:30am. I loved the opening titles "I-T-N", and some good newscasters were on this programme. I vaguely remember Gavin Scott doing this, but remember Phil Roman, Anne Leuchars, Brenda Rowe and Tim Neilson better. I think the opening/closing titles ran from early 1988 until late November 1992, then they changed and I didn't like them as much, the News was still well presented though. Great vid, thanks!

ITN Morning News was a 1 Hour programme, never 1.5 hours. TV-am would then start at 6am.The format ran like this roughly.

Nice Music ITN Morning News 1989 Tim Neilson Presented ITN Morning News 1992-2004
Great to see a more in-depth of how the Morning News worked in it's early years; also noticed the name Tim Neilson as Programme Editor - assuming the same Tim Neilson who frequented the Morning News chair occasionally during the '90's and '00s!

Used to get up at 5:00 as a 12-year-old to watch this show! I loved the open, the gfx, the longer theme music, etc. (Very occasional anchor) Gavin was a bit of a fruit-ball! Sorry you didn't have a more telegenic anchor to direct! Great vid.
