There really is no need to check if you're in a vein or artery since the rebif injection is a subcutaneous and not intramuscular. Also, unless you rub the area with alcohol swabs for at least 60 seconds, you could be doing more harm than good since it interrupts the natural skin flora and makes you more prone to introducing infection.
