Electric locomotives are items of curiosities of the past on the Victorian Railways. These scenes taken on a day out in Gippsland Eastern Victoria, briefly records some of the happenings back in the 1960s. E class E1104 is seen arriving at Dandenong with a short goods train consisting of a sheep and another four wheel wagon followed up by a 4 wheel brakevan. Then there are views of other regular goods and passenger trains pulled by L class electric locomotives, while the last scenes are of coal trains on the electric State Electricity Commission railway between Yallourn and Morewell.

@corzaholden93 The State Electricity Commission ran a 900 mm gauge railway to move overburden and transport brown coal from the open cut mine to the first power stations at Yallourn. Rails were movable in the mine. There were some 40 electric Locos built by Kelly and Lewis, Henschel and Hitachi ranging from 46-62 tons and of 461-1019 kw. They ranged from 46 to 62 tons. Trains shown ran to Morwell Briquette works on a 20 km line; empty trains were pushed. Yallourn coal made better briquettes.
