This is a video we made for a school project.

There are clips from two interviews we made ourself with a man and a woman (We know their real names) The woman has worked with street children in Russia and Mexico for many years. The man has been with the Danish defence in Russia and lived there for three years.

It's in Danish and Norwegein - so we made english subtitles for it (If it's not a 100 % correct, were sorry! But we were in a hurry to make it...)

  • How can I help these children . We adopted our daughter from China, we would like to adopt two more children. Please tell me how you can help me do this. Or some way I can help.

    Kind Regards,

  • @reneemagray I'm sorry about the very late reply, but I do not check this video very often. And I do not think I can help you. This was a video my friend and I made for a project a few years ago and we do not have any contact with people who work with street children. You should try finding organisations online, they will help you. It is very nice to hear about people who are so interested in helping, I admire you very much.

Sorry I could not be too any help.

    Kristine

  • wtf it's not even russia

  • @Eveyinuk Thanks for your answer. I'm 22 years and work each summer with handicaped children and yng teen in inclusive day camp for develop friendship with non-handicaped child and yng teen across leisure activities. I'm so touched by child and yng teen in Russia. I go in St-Petersburg in summer 2012 or 2013 during 8 weeks. One man Nikolay 32yo who work with street children prepare my place to live and I studies Russian but it's not easy. I will work with Nikolai. I must go there HUGS

  • @JeZ21yo well its a BIG difference between a rich country like canada and a very poor country like russia!

  • I'm from Canada and I hope the situation is better for these homeless children, yng teen, teen and yng adults in East-Europe ? In Canada any boys is obliged of live in the street. because there are centers that collect all children up to age 18 years and the government pays their clothing, food, education and educators to supervise them well. These are not orphanages oh no. It no longer exists and if the children are lucky they can be supported by a host family, but no child lives in the street.

  • WORLD SUCKS!!

  • This world is full of all kinds of evil. Shame on all.. SHAME!!

  • @dohurturself the government obviously doesnt want u to see the real side of russia.. they will do everything.. including sending the kids to gulags if only that helped them with getting rid of the kids.. trust me.. police are brainwashed.. most police men are 18-22 years old and they are blackmailed that if they do no follow very drastic rules, something will happen to them or their families.. that always was the way the russian government worked..

  • @dohurturself they really cleaned it up.. i haven't seen obviously homeless kids since 2005 or so..but that doesn't mean they don't exist. they just hide it better now - cops chase them so they dress better and don't beg. they mostly steal or work in construction (or do some combination of both).

  • to be honest i have recently been in st petersburg and the situation doesnt seem to be so grim... maybe this happens only in the poorest part of the city where torism doesnt go... it hurts a lot to know about this as the people there r really nice and the place seems to b some sort of heaven to people who r not aware of what happens behind the scenes....

    its really awful... :(

  • @elifbathaje russia have their own problems..they had a communist state..followed by its fall..and it was a very very hard time for them..

  • @elifbathaje as a muslim, i will do my best not to judge though sometimes its a little hard. Its only human. But I believe in helping such kids, i donate and help in activities, self improvement..and so on.its important to do our part than just being judgemental and preaching.

  • @elifbathaje U are right but dont forget, there are other reasons too why the country is in shambles. From a communist state being told what to do and , now a lot of them have no jobs, they are lost and so is the promise of being taken care of by the gov.I am Muslim too.But this is more than just about alcohol. After saying that, there are tons of homeless kids in muslim countries too for a variety of reasons and not being taken care of.God has requested that we shield widows and orphans

  • @hazellina07 probably better but there are no reliable statistics. It appears better - you see no homeless kids in moscow at all now and back in 2002-2004, there were thousands of them around train stations. But i think it has a lot to do with cops now chasing them out while before cops just didnt care. I think its mostly optics - kids are still out there, but they just hide better.

  • @elifbathaje how come then there are so many homeless kids in Cairo and Damascus and Islamabad and Jakarta and .. you get the point...

  • this is very sad indeed..i wonder has the situation got a little better or worst..whats the percentage of kids in the streets ?
