During government sponsored resettlement programs in Newfoundland (late 50's throuh to the early 70's), many houses were either abandoned or floated and toed across stretches of open sea, from traditional coastal villages to newly populated communities.
Resettlement [floating home] uses the image of the floating house as a metaphor for displacement and memory, a suspension between worlds — a place where a lonely spirit is compelled to appear.

the final chapter to "the resettlement program"has never been written. all attempts to keep the memories and injusticies alive are greately appreciated. Harold Barry, one of the Very last residents to leave Port Royal in 1967.

if you towed that to N.Y. they'd tax you $15,000 a year for owning a water front or house boat. cant wait to retire and scrape the filth from my feet and head west.
