Frank Randle fettles George Formby in this strumming sensation - hopefully to be recreated en masse at the Fifth Annual Frank Randle Day in Blackpool on the North Pier - Be there!! Saturday, 9th July 2011. Courtesy of The Cuthbert Club 2011. www.itsahotun.com - lyrics for the day from Lee Mannering:
Lyrics to Frank Randles Sergeant Major
Tune Ukelele GCEA 2 finger chords
Our Sergeant asks us where we'd camp and we don't make a fuss
The Colonel thinks we're marvellous he saves a lot of fuss
And when they want fatigues of course they always pick on us
On Ilkley Moor bah t'hat
We made a big sensation when we first went on parade
The Sergeant Major held his breath and then knelt down and prayed
He sent for disinfectant and we all had to be sprayed
On Ilkley Moor bah t'hat
UKE SOLO
(Opera vocal solo) Tra la la la la hi ho, Tra la la la la hi ho
(Spoken) THAT WAS ME! GERROFF ME FOOT!
When the war is over we'll all be nice and plump
They'll give us all a pension that'll cure us of the hump
We'll tell old Sergeant Korris he can take a running jump
On Ilkley Moor bah t'hat
(New additional chorus)
Frank Randle was a great star always top'er bill
There'll nay be 'nother like him for he was one in th'mill
And we think he's the greatest the best there'll ever be
Frank Randle King of Fun!
Is that an Abbott? I think it is!

Great! You can see he is impersonating Formby here, the style of singing, also says one of Formby's catchphrases "Thats Champion" near the end and of course the banjo ukulele. But still a great example of British comedy!
