Track 2. So You Ran (5:11)

Orion The Hunter - more correctly Orion, for The Hunter had simply been the title of their first album - was a 1980s rock combo and offshoot of the popular band Boston. It featured former Boston members Barry Goudreau on guitars and future Boston lead vocalist Fran Cosmo. Orion released the album The Hunter in 1984 on Columbia Records, which yielded a hit single "So You Ran", featuring the sky-high vocals which prompted Cosmo's entrance to Boston in the early 90s.

Orion charted at #57 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart after its debut on May 9th, 1984. "So You Ran" managed to make the Top Ten on rock radio and was a mid-chart hit on mainstream pop radio.

Orion featured Bruce Smith on the bass and ex-Heart drummer Michael DeRosier. The album also included the late Brad Delp, former lead singer of Boston. Brad sang background vocals on numerous tracks. The influence of Goudreau's Boston sound is evident on the album. Orion is commonly thought to be similar to Boston, Heart, and Triumph.

  • Sounds like brad delp pn vocals

  • I read that this was more or less Barry Goudreau's second solo record (featuring some of his friends) but with a different name.

    It's a pretty cool song.

  • Actually the a capella intro is present on the Razor & Tie CD version. It's just at the end of track one, All Those Years ;-)

Track one lasts for 4'50'' instead of 4'38'' and So You Ran begins at 4'42''.

  • @allenbluzmanhaynes OMG yes - what the hell?!

  • This is a great song but to cut the acapella intro is a sin.

  • Literally hadn't heard this song in ages and I caught myself playing this through my head today, for no reason. It's a song that gets you right "here!"

  • This album came around the same year as Madonna's "Like a Virgin." That Madonna album may have sold millions more copies than the Orion album, but Orion really sounds cooler than Britney and Beyonce.

  • KILLER CHORUS

  • I love that 80s sound.

  • Wow I bought the album back then--it's still mint condition..really glad to see it here! RC
