1) Smoke Stack Lightning - Howlin' Wolf original 1956 #8 R&B hit
2) 3:06 - Smoke Stack by Tom and Jerry
Listen to what they did to Howlin' Wolf's classic vocal. They took the rhythm and made a fantastic instrumental adaptation. Writer credit is Jerry Kennedy.
These are Tom Tomlinson and Jerry Kennedy, two Nashville guitarists. Mercury Records created this combination for 4 LPs and a few singles in the early 1960s. This is from their second album.

  • This song was also in a boner commercial.

  • Great music.

  • @GSMusicMoments It's interesting that there already was a Tom and Jerry duo and in the 60's yet Simon & Garfunkel still chose the name- although I guess they would have been just kids then really and probably chnaged to S&G because of the fact.

  • @L8P8 lol my fave part

  • CCR spun that lick around backwards and it became Suzy-Q.

  • Best damn song ever!

  • @fredmcc8

    Probably professional jealousy/ rivalry.

  • He could make the Queen of England wet and squeal.

  • Real blues music he didn't like muddy though.
