Houston fine art photographer Shelley Calton discusses her work and focuses in on her new book "Hard Knocks, Rolling with the Derby Girls" which is to be officially released September 1 by her German publisher Kehrer Verlag Heidelberg. The book is skillfully conceived, well written and the photos are beautifully printed. The video can only touch on the finished product. (which is now available at AMAZON.COM) Shelley's photographic staple is an old Speed Graphic camera which she uses for a variety of fine art projects. For "Hard Knocks" she also shot with a medium format camera with 3200 asa film.
I'm very glad I saw your video Shelly. I was told by a Roller Derby Team that they would welcome my photogrpahy at there games. I have yet to take pictures because I need a reason or a project . Unlike you publishing a book (Great Job.) I also shoot medium and large format cameras, and have a Crown Grapflex for great pictures. Your video was inspiring. I may take a few pics to see what happens.

Good job! I found this very interesting. The photos are beautiful.
But your dog Ford, now that's who I'd like to see a book about! He's so cute and sweet! Are you sure he's not your first love?
