We had a chat with British comics legend and 2000AD founder Pat Mills at the 2010 2D Comics Festival in Derry.

  • Action: the comic that paved the way for 2000AD and so much else. 35 years after the event, I'm still pissed off that it was taken from us.

  • Without Pat mills most of the comic creators around now wouldn't have got the same kind of exposure. No one would have known about artists like Simon Bisley, and writers like Alan Moore may not have been discovered. Its a pity relatively speaking hardly anyone knows about his work because he is so influential. 2000ad through the years has influenced a lot of what we see in popular culture.

  • The word ' Legend ' is overused in this society - however without a shadow of doubt this gentleman deserves this respect over and over again -

    Charley's War stood out when I was a reader in my teens , and the writing and history was first class .

    Much of what he says about WW1 is still valid
