Here you'll see how I created a makeshift hair steamer with my hooded dryer and facial steamer.
A steamer similar to the one I used can be found on Amazon.

  • hi what brand name is your steamer i look like to buy one can you tell me where u found it.

  • @fransou19 -I put a link to Amazon in the description. It's a portable table top facial steamer.

  • isnt the heat damaging for youre hair??

  • @sugermeli -Great question! This method uses steam which is heat+moisture. The heat opens up the cuticle layer so the moisture and conditioner can penetrate deeper into the hair shaft. The result is hair with more moisture unlike when one uses direct heat that removes moisture.

  • Do you need to have the hooded dryer or is there a way to steam the hair with just the facial steamer. I'm in a door and having a hooded dryer is against regulations but I would still like to be able to steam condition...any thoughts?

  • @ob2be -I've used this steamer on my hair without a hooded dryer. I did a short video called Pre-poo steam treatment where I would steam individual sections of my hair with a pre-shampoo treatment. That was how I was using it before this idea popped into my mind. Let me know if you have other questions!

  • @ob2be wouldn't just holding a large bowl in place of the hooded dryer work?

  • Thank you . =)

  • Loved the video! What music exactly is in the video? What cd or artist? Thanks :)

  • what an inspiring video YOU DID VERY WELL I AM PROUD OF YOU SISTA (THIS IS MY FIRST TIME SAYING THIS SO BE HAPPY LOL ;) )

  • There are actually hooded steam machines out. They look like hooded dryers.

    Ginger Tansil

  • Also you can get even better results with the cheap blow dryer hoods at your local beauty supply store.

  • like the second beat

  • Hello nice video,....what is the name of that song at the end of the video?

  • smart girl

  • What kind of results do you get from the steamer? What have you exprience with your hair? More moisture, hair growth, healthy scalp etc.

  • Thank you for making this video. I need to update my hair rountine. The winter is killing me. My hair is so dry. I am going to look into this. I need something new. Thanks again

  • Talk about creative! You're hair is gorgeous!!

  • @sugermeli steam is actually good for your hair. I have been using my Huetiful Hair Steamer a little over a month now on both my nine year old daughter's hair, who is transistioning and my own hair (I did a bc in July). I have gotten excellent results with it. I also purchased the attached facial steamer that can be used with the steamer as well. I think it is one of the best investments for natural as well as any other hair textures. I really love my steamer.

  • @fabohair this is waht i did the same day thank u anyway for sahring.

  • i'm in love with this idea!!

  • Great idea to save money. I don't have either but I do have a hooded dryer and a hot steam humidifier. I'm going to try and see if this will get me some benefits. But I'll use the hot wet towel under plastic method first then remove and sit under the dryer with the open vaporizer steam....since mine won't probably be as steamy as your facial one...gotta try. Thanks for the idea.

  • Great Idea

  • good tips

  • Very clever..I'm gonna try. Thanks for sharing :-)

  • I tried this and it didn't do much for me. It was as good as the towel or plastic cap method for me.

  • that looks like a really good idea and looks like lots of steam was produced...thanks for sharing!

  • I already have a hood dryer, but I would love to have a steamer as well. So instead of purchasing the hood steamer, I can just purchase the facial steamer and do it how you did. Great way to save money and space. Thank you.
