The lady with the high-pitched voice is Zelda Rubenstein, who played the psychic "house cleaner" in "Poltergeist." The guy talking about the existence of a soul is John Cusack in "Being John Malkovich."
Yeah, that was a Freudian slip on my part (see first comment in the thread). After all these years I still tend to think of the films as being numbered in order of their actual release.
