  • I filmed this in Feb 2008 at the Wings of Dreams fly in at Keystone Heights FL. It is the Collings Foundation plane and they billed it as the Last Flying B-24.

  • @airmanc81 She's a beauty, that's for sure. Someday I hope to be able to see her in person. We have one in Canada, at a museum I used to volunteer for. ex KN 820 now HE-773, no longer flying, but from what I'm told, still flyable. Ferried from India back in the sixties, it sits in static storage at the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ottawa. Would be cool if the Canadian Warplane Heritage museum were to get hold of her, and put her back in the air, where she belongs!

  • @broot4u There is another plane, 'Ol' 927' operated by the CAF. It was built as a B-24, crashed, and converted into a cargo plane. It stayed as a cargo plane for decades and the CAF now call it a B-24 after some "modifications." Inside, it's 90% cargo configuration; outside, it resembles a bomber. If you're a purist like me, the B-24 in this video is TRULY the only one flying, as it is immaculately restored to wartime bomber configuration.

  • @airmanc81 Aaah, ok, thanks for clarifying.

  • @broot4u They're one in the same. The Collings Foundation's B-24 started off as 'All American' in the 90's. They later changed the paint scheme to 'Dragon and His Tail' in the late 90's. Then in 2004 (if memory served me correctly) it was changed again to 'Witchcraft' (what you see here).

Each paint scheme was based on a plane in different theaters of the war. Since it is the only flying B-24, they change the paint often to honor different theaters and different veterans specifically.

  • I'm confused, this video is posted in 2008, and someone is alleging this is "The Dragon and His Tail". That B24, owned by the Collings Foundation has a video posted of it in all it's splendor in 2009. Something here does not compute boys. Please clarify.

  • This is not the last flying B24. Collings Foundation is flying "The Dragon And His Tail", another B24. You can YouTube "The Dragon And His Tail" to see for yourself.

  • i was able to walk through this plane as well as a B-17 when they came to the Cape May Airport, amazing experience!!!

  • @7322628023 I believe this is a B24J or G. My father flew in this type out of Grataglia Italy in the 449thBG ,216SQ. The" Silver Babe" was her name. The first unpainted bomber in the group. It was shot down due to Flak all bailed out and were saved by partisans and were returned.

  • @phishinvan This plane is the same plane as" Dragon and His Tail". It has been repainted. It also was called the "All American"
