NEW YORK, USA, 20 November 2008 The US Fund for UNICEF and Grammy Award-winning musical artist Rihanna were on hand to celebrate the UNICEF Snowflake lighting ceremony last night at Grand Army Plaza in New York City.

A strong supporter of UNICEF, Rihanna is also a multi-platinum MTV Award, Video Music Award and American Music Award winner. She has now joined UNICEFs fight to decrease the number of children dying from preventable causes worldwide.

"We are thrilled to have Rihanna take part in the lighting ceremony in New York City," said US Fund for UNICEF President and CEO Caryl Stern. She has tremendous enthusiasm for helping those in need and is the ideal person for spreading the UNICEF Snowflakes message of hope, peace and compassion for children around the world.

  • You are a beautiful young woman many people will refuse to speak about the person you are beyond performance and stage simply because they do not know or they do not care to know.Your contribution to charity and children is commendable.Your ambassadorship of your country is note worthy. All the scandal, lies, fanfare or photo shopped pics geared at infringing on your rights as an individual couldn't stop me from saluting you
