Expulsion & Exultation

A 2-part number utilizing concepts from the zar and other spiritually motivated dances, in which first there is the expulsion of the bothersome spirit or frustration through the wild, trance-like movements, creating room for positive, rejuvenating energy that can then be shared with one's community. Following, is the exultant celebration of such a spiritual catharsis, influenced by many eastern styles and the kata I was studying at the time. Performed at the Durango 2007 show, videography by Janet Emmons (SimonDraw on YouTube). This is a full improvisation in my signature style Tejedora ("weaver")--and yes, I really went there. :)
