Vlog: Brian "Athus" Dyer (1982 - 2011)

On October 11th, 2011, Brian "Athus Nadorian" Dyer was the victim of a car accident that claimed his life.

Brian was an amazing artist, a wonderful friend, and a beacon of inspiration. I would not be a writer today had it not been for the captivating works of this artist. He was taken from us too soon, and he will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

I know I usually do the "can't see my face" gimmick with my photos and videos, but in this sombering moment I think it would be in bad taste to keep up that charade. Brian's works touched me in a way that has yet to be matched in my lifetime, and I doubt they ever will.

RIP Brian. You will be missed. Greatly.

I do not know the poster of this video, and never knew Athus, but I could not let the comments of those two go unanswered.

Pardon my intrusion if you had preferred to deny them attention. Personally, however, I would respect even an enemy's final place of rest, and I could not believe that one callous comment! It drew my umbrage and could not go unanswered.

It's been a while... I still cry when I think about him. I've had deaths in the family and nothing has ever hit me even close to this hard. I'm really gonna miss him.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on him, it's beautiful. I too was inspired by Brian's artwork years ago, and I regret never having contacted him. He almost single-handedly introduced me to a fandom, nay, a community, that has helped me so much in discovering who I am. Alas, it's too easy to take things for granted when you have them... When I move on, the first thing I wanna do is shake his scaly paw.
