The very essence of Audism

In a comment to me under one of my vlogs from last year, a Hearing mother of a Deaf child with a cochlear implant made a comment to me which reveals the very essence of audism. Here I discuss the comment and why it is necessary to have the word "audism" in our vocabularies.

Yes, indeed - AUDISM! I have seen some naysayers saying, "oppression" or "discrimination" - that good enough! I disagree... It's not about those, but just like you said it's all about attitude that led one to view one minority group as an inferior group. That could lead to other issues, such as discrimination, and such... but it starts out with an attitude. Yes, ya got it... btw, that hearing mother's comment to you is way out of the line! Good to show her comment as an example of AUDISM!

God gives us, Deaf people a chance to live in this earth even though, "Fixed" has been always around us. So, whoever she says, God wants Deaf people to live!

She's a reflection of her hate. Her life is as good as burning coal. I just ignore their abauds (I replace that for absurds). We're standing tall and proud in giant sea of hate, so that means they lose.

@tehsouggy Maybe you misinterpreted mine... I am not fully deaf or function as HH like you and I get a lot of flak from both sides too! I see myself as organic Deaf person. I understand audism's definition and It is discriminating based on hearing status. Don is organic as he can be he functions exactly Whole American Guy yet he was put down becuz he doesnt want to be cured like me.

@LSmae3 Wrong, it doesn't means discrimination against a Deaf person. It means discrimination based on hearing status. Like reverse racism, which is a racism in itself, there is reverse audism. See, I am not fully deaf, nor do I function as a hard-of-hearing; I live in between both worlds: the Deaf World, and the mainstream, I get a lot of flak from both sides. "Oh, you can still hear? You're not deaf" from a small minority of Deaf people. For examples in the hearing world, we've all been there.
