From the Festival Express train ride in Canada, 1970, if anyone's interested. Everything from those shows is awesome, the Dead, the Band, Burrito Bros, and Janis blows them all away.

God -- Pig looks so thin and frail here, and it's pretty obvious his voice has gotten a lot thinner, as well.

I get the feeling that the ones wearing purple dropped acid before the show and Pig and Bill didn't.

One of the great tasks of the artists is to take old metaphors and make them new again. In that sense, this cover is a literal metaphor. Terrapin Station is a figurative metaphor of the transcendental arch of spirituality. Trip is the best word for all mythology and experience (traveling, loving, the Stanley Cup, reading, LSD or otherwise).
