To The Australia Day Hypocrite

Im not having a shot at Australia Day itself but at the Nationalistic undercurrent thats snaking into, not only Australia day, but into everyday

To me being Australian is having a go while giving everyone else a fair go. Its a pretty simple philosophy which I see a lot of so called proud Aussies struggling with. Also if you love something in my book you look after it, you dont exploit or damage it. Each day when I take my old Red Heeler for a walk around the suburb we spend most of the time threading our way through the numerous smashed beer bottles and charred plastic blobs of torched wheelie bins on the pathway, I spend the rest of the time trying to drag my dog away from discarded McDonalds packaging. This is made even more difficult at night as most of the pathway lights have been smashed by proud Aussies.


To The Australia Day Hypocrite

Theres some bullshit in this nation, thats quickly spreading round,
That becomes more apparent Australia Day,
Like the flags that some are waving on close inspection found,
Where made in some Asian country far away.

Im proud to be an Aussie you can hear wavers cheer,
But it seems that their conviction isnt tough,
Youd like to buy Australian but flags made here are dear,
So youre proud but not quite proud enough?

You say you love Australia but thats an easy thing to bleat,
Excuse me if I doubt your sincerity,
If you dont bother to bin your rubbish and just drop it in the street,
It doesnt sound like you love this place to me.

Theres also an over abundance of these nationalistic clowns,
Who are loud in their jingoistic cries,
They say they love Australia then steal what isnt nailed down,
And what cant be taken is usually vandalised.

And dont you love these wankers who in a patriotic voice,
Want bring immigration to a halt,
But mostly those who get here become Australian out of choice,
If youre born here youre only Aussie by default.

They come into our country spoil our culture, take our jobs,
For decades this has been said in repetition,
It is banter of the ignorant and by lazy Aussie slobs,
Who are afraid of a little competition.

So you think youre a proud Aussie and for this country you would fight,
But I question your allegiance in your plan,
If in the streets and pubs youre blueing then youre logic isnt right,
Cause youre fighting with a fellow countryman.

True blueness cant be measured by how hard we wave a flag
Or what borders we were born within,
Its not measured by our appearance or any other tag.
Its about how much were prepared to put back in.

Those who truly love this country do more than wave our colours,
Self infatuation is not in their routine,
Theyll sacrifice their spare time in the pursuit of helping others,
And in the limelight theyre very rarely seen.

Are you proud to be an Aussie because of what others have achieved?
You think that somehow this reflects on you,
Its more likely that youre grateful of the benefits you receive,
As Having a go isnt something that you do.

Its easy to claim Aussie pride when theres no test you have to pass,
But Ill give you a cap to try and fit,
If when contributing to our nation you cant get off your arse,
Youre not full of pride youre only full of shit.

@Yakovich Fair call. You were on the right track when you started off with the whole "buy Australian" but completely derailed your argument when you said that immigration is a good thing. Immigration in Australia has failed and continues to fail. I could provide statistics but I am not that interested in making my point. Immigrants come over here, a lot of them go on the dole, then the Government gives them the Baby Bonus when they breed in their ghettos. They do not assimilate!

@Yakovich But at what price? Australia had it's own identity and culture but it is disappearing fast. I will give you one more compliment though - you didn't cop out of the argument/debate by labeling me a racist. Let's just hope that Gillard is voted out next time so that the Liberals can repair all of the damage Labor has done and improve those stats you provided.....but that's a whole different topic. I appreciate your honest and civil replies even though in my mind we disagree.

@0BatGirl0 We recently had a similar crime where a young fella broke into a house, hacked the occupants to death with a tomahawk and then tried to burn the place down. This bloke was a white Aussie teenager... So using the same logic we should be scared of all white Aussie teenagers?
