How can we ensure that students in low-income communities have access to today's current technology? Since 2002, Per Scholas -- a non-profit social venture in NYC -- has been instrumental in helping children and families bridge the digital divide. To date, they have partnered with six public middle schools to distribute over 2000 computers to students and teachers and provided hundreds of hours of technology training. With technology on their side, students are empowered to achieve academically and to embark on the life-long pursuit of education.

  • i love computers

  • wow...this is fucked up

  • PC= cheap

  • macs prevent innovations while pcs you can upgrade and toy with. Would you mess with something thats so expensive.

  • Wow !

good idea to give something to people instead of cutting them in little piece !

    +1 for good action

+1 for helping people who need help

    +1 for teaching for free

    and finally

+1 for the good attitude of the teacher/staff of the operation .

  • Cool stuff, but kinda too bad that they're giving them computers with Microsoft Windows. What are these poor families supposed to do in six months, when the operating system is so hopelessly gunked up that it barely even runs? A poor family isn't gonna cough up a few hundred bucks for a Windows CD. Per Scholas should get them up and running with Ubuntu instead. :)

  • @SpadesHeart that is completely true i am not saying that porn, drugs, or alcohol are good but they should be less stressed maybe we would have less problems.

  • @ilikemewaffle a little porn doesn't make a man a pervert. thats natural curiosity. My parents made me close my eyes during the kissing scenes in movies. if they were open about stuff I would have never looked at a younger age. Cutting off potentially good things like the internet is you not teaching, or trusting your kids to do the right thing.

  • That's a little bit amazing.

    Thank you GOOD.

  • @SpadesHeart well im in high school and every guy i know has watched some kind of porn
