  • Here's the test... just listen... don't watch this video.

Each note is clear and individual and expressive. This is a pianist for whom music flows from the cosmos throughout and out of his body and he wisely just lets it happen, without concern about "how it looks". We all should be so lucky to be so blessed.

Few are... Mozart and Beethoven were expressive like this when they played piano according to comtemporaries and they did ok.. :))

  • @winda9643 you're really stupid if you need to watch someone's face to listen to music...

  • @edtskyline "you don't hit the piano on classical music"? It's a percussion instrument, dude. If you don't hit it it doesn't make a sound. Gina Bachauer (ever hear of her? she was pretty good) used to hit it so hard on the Totentanz that nothing but her ten fingers would lift her ass eight inches off the bench.

And yet both Lang, Gina and other powerful players can play sensitive passages that'll make you cry. You have a warped idea of classical music.

  • I am a concert pianist with no name or money. But I did have the privilege of living in the same city with Lang when he was coming up and I must say, his gesticulations and expressions while playing are of a piece with his delightful personality. All the musicians who hang with him enjoy being around him.

Lang is a warm, unassuming guy who is so fun to be around and very funny. So many of the greats have it go to their head. Lang just doesn't care what the critics say. He loves to play.

  • this dude clearly knows what he doing if you look at him giving master classes. Disparaging him doesn't change the fact that his concerts are well received and while some of his facial expressions may be an hinderance, this guy is an expert and does not require little imbecile to teach him how to play. He is a master is his own ways.

  • @yosserc all this people, when they listen all the day black music there is no problem so this question of racism make me badly laugh... they are ignorant, let them swim in the shit of commercial radio.. lang lang touches the perfection each time he plays piano you know it.

  • I've just watched less than a minute...damn!! I don't like him, he loves to hit the piano...you just can't do that on classical music!! Just horrible! It's a pity because he could play well, but seems like he doesn't even realizes he's doing it wrong.

  • His facial expressions are over the top, but the sound and music he can produce is amazing.

  • Definetly, I like Lang Lang's piano. Both the music and the performance. Noticeably in this recording (see 5:00 to 5:06) is his naturality while waiting his next entrance (seconds after) in the music. Indeed, more than a musician, he is a performer and he seems to enjoy this... From most of comments I read in several performances available at YouTube, it seems that the members of traditional classical music community do not not share Lang Lang's enjoyment... As I said before, I do!

  • gênio!

  • He looks like a clown, we can see that he enjoys playing. The sound is great!

  • haha, I love his facial expressions. But he's really into the music, so I'm assuming he just doesn't care what others think of him. He's too happy, consumed in his world. Plus, he's a virtuoso. That's why he's so respectable
