If thats so, why has the Canadian navy had so much success with this gun system?
"Doesnt stand a chance at hitting anything" is not true with 3P ammunition. If you've ever seen the carnage it causes, you would understand what this thing is capable of
If you were ever close enough to use this weapon against another ship, 3P rounds would be used, fired at say, the operations room, the fragments would penetrate the walls and cause human casualties and destroy much of the electronic equipment

I bet it could sink a cruiser with some sort of high-penetration ammo. Stuff that probably doesn't exist xD
It looks like it'd make a decent AA gun, find a way to stick that turret onto a tank.
And you can totally use the larger caliber guns against soft targets. Planes and infantry even. Most of europe swears by the 100mm variety, while the US still uses a 127mm (Both considered the best compromise between hitting power and flexibility :D).

You could hammer a tank pretty good with this one using AP ammo at 220rpm.
But you are right. The main purpose for this cannon is not to sink cruisers. There better but more expensive solutions for that.
Everything is made for a purpose. Not advisable to use a 120mm cannon or rockets for soft targets eighter
Us Swedes do like freakishly efficient cannons indeed.

You can take comfort in the thought that if you -were- to be hit by one, you probably wouldn't be alive long enough to appreciate it.
