@Chloe24421996 And Tom Barry was My Godfather, I know first hand the way things played out, and there not as written in books or passed around in Chinese whispers,I only wish Tom were still with us RIP, and those who have`nt should visit CrossBarry or Killmicheal,I dont care what you say the old freestaters were British animal turncoats, and Collins was the worst,He may have been a hero to start off with but changed very fast into an instrument of the Brits,Just like Gerry and co of today!
@TheDeserthunta Richard Mulcahy was the leader of the IRA during this time - Chief of Staff. Michael Collins was Director of Intelligence. The flying columns were mainly organised by Dick McKee on the GHQ staff and trained and led by local commanders who acted independently of the leadership. The IRA were the men who fought the war. Collins was too busy riding around Dublin on a bicycle to fire a single shot at the Brits.
@TomBarry192I a lot of them and in all them i never see any of your statements, i see now that rather then fact you are using a biased opinion( yours). oh did he not? tell me who did then? who made the flying columns? who used guerilla warfare?? and how stupid can you be to not think michael collins was not the leader of the IRA dear god man! are u from ireland? tell me now cause from what your saying you could be from fuking swaziland
@TheDeserthunta Collins did not 'make' the IRA. What history books have you been reading? The people who broke away from the IRA were the Free Staters, who were a 26 county army, broke their oath to defend the Republic and attacked it using British guns to bring Ireland under the British Empire. The counter revolution was replacing the 32 county Republic with two partitioned states to prevent Irish independence which goes on today. You have been watching too much Neil Jordan.
@TomBarry192I counter revolutionary? collins MADE the IRA collins was the leader of the IRA against the british and in doing so brought the british to their knees. when the free state army was made it was made from the IRA loyal to collins which was the majority only a few decided to break away. and how it really happened was the IRA rogues invaded the four courts and at first collins let them be trying to avoid war but then these ROGUES captured general JJ O Conner and he was forced to act.
